So I got to see the last hour of my friends' performance and the concert venue was intimate and there was room for dancing! It was standing room only however, I didn't mind. Originally the cover charge was $15 at the door and $12 in advance but when you added the fees, it would cost $16.72, more than the door price. The host at the restaurant tried to contact the concert venue but no one answered so he finally decided to let me walk through to the concert venue but put a wristband on me to indicate I was of drinking age, thank you very much! Unfortunately, time was running out and I just wanted to watch my friends perform so at the entrance to the concert venue, I was told there was only 30 minutes left to the show and that they would only charge me $10. I was lucky to find a parking spot about 1/2 a block away on Shattuck! Talk about Parking Karma! Then when I came back on Uber to Cornerstone, I went to the box office on Durant and the doors were locked and the box office was closed at 11 pm! The sign on the box office said to enter the concert venue through the restaurant. I decided to park my car near Cornerstone and take Uber to the first concert and Uber back to Cornerstone so I wouldn't have to find parking. I had to attend another concert the same night at almost the same time so this was my second stop for the night. Owen | kjophoto. This was my first time here and I'd love to come back and try the food and the drinks as I was only here for 60 minutes in the concert venue to see my friends perform. Photos courtesy of Cornerstone (Photo: Kelly J. The shows are great, the food is tasty, the vibe is laid-back, and the beer is world-beating. Any place that can turn a music venue into a games room (not only ping pong, but corn-hole and giant Jenga too) outside showtimes, and make it feel like its all part of the vibe, is a treasure. The venue makes you feel welcome almost immediately, the ambiance is warm and homely, and there’s a genuine home-spun feel to the place which isn’t contrived. This is – and it’s no idle boast – the biggest selection of beer in Berkeley.Ĭornerstone sits in a sweet-spot you may not have realized you wanted until you see it: it’s laid-back without being scuzzy, exciting without being overbearing, well-crafted without drowning in smugness. There’s no doubting the thought that goes into the beer here: two full bars, forty-two beer taps, and a constantly-changing roster of beers drawn from 100 breweries. The restaurant is a great option before the show: the food is great, with generous portions of food that brings some thought and inventiveness to the great global tradition of food with beer: cheese and cured meats, soft pretzels for a central European vibe, and only-in-America beauties including BBQ pork belly nachos and mozzarella-stuffed meatballs.īut the deal with Cornerstone is that while the music is great and the food delicious, the beer is world-beating. Shows are usually all-ages (with a fair minimum age of 6 years old), and when dining in the Shattuck restaurant, designated drivers get free soda and coffee. For a great music venue, Cornerstone is surprisingly accessible and friendly: an intimately designed space offers everyone in the 500-person audience space a place to belong with the artists and their peers, with early entry and ADA accessible certification. This is no small thing when you’ve got reggae newcomer HIRIE, Ozomatli and Jurassic 5 legend Cut Chemist, and so-hot-right-now Wolf Alice on the upcoming shows list. Start with the hardware for the audiophiles: the central room has a three-way subcompact line array system which is paired with 12000 HD amplifiers and a state-of-the-art soundboard. Spread out over 13,000 square feet, Cornerstone is a treat. Patrons enjoy a beer on the gorgeous patio of The Cornerstone in Berkeley Cornerstone is the rare example of the great venue done well. Berkeley isn’t poor in great music venues – from the Alternative Music Foundation to the celebratory vibe of the Ashkenaz, from the highbrow of UC Berkeley’s several performance spaces to the somehow old-school Greek Theatre, the town has musical heritage in its bloodstream, and Cornerstone, with a music venue on Durant Ave and a restaurant with its frontage on Shattuck Ave, is an exciting addition to the scene.Ĭornerstone’s positioned itself to bridge a gap in services in a way which could feel a bit contrived (not only craft beer, but a high-end sound system! Also ping-pong!) but it’s no pretender in any of the things it wants to be known for.

In the Liga MX, if your performance is below par, there is this phenomenon called relegation. There are occasional shifts, like teams moving to other cities, but it is a rare occurrence. In the MLB, the same 30 teams are guaranteed to be in the league, regardless of their performance. What makes soccer distinct from most other sports is relegation. However if there is a tie, there will be extra-time and penalties if needed. In the final, the goals are still accumulated from both legs to determine the winner. All of this is eliminated in the final of the Liga MX. Since the Xolos finished in first place and Club America finished in eighth place the Xolos move on to the next round of the playoffs. Then Club America comes back and beat the Xolos 1-0 at the Estadio Caliente in the second match. So let’s say the Xolos Beat Club America 1-0 in Mexico City in the first game. Now, what happens if the teams have the same amount of away goals? Highest finish during the regular season is the next tie-breaker. The Xolos would move on because they scored that away goal. So let’s say the Xolos tie against Club America 1-1 in Mexico City in the first game, then in the second game the teams tie 0-0 at the Estadio Caliente. The tie-breaker is the amount of away goals for each team. The number of goals is accumulated to decide the winner. Each playoff matchup is determined by two games, or legs. The first place team will play the eighth place team, the second place team will play the seventh place team, and so on. The match-ups are based on which place the teams ended with in the competition. The playoff structure for the Liga MX is quite simple the top eight teams who accumulate the most points move on to the playoffs. Unlike in the MLB or NFL, each team will play each other at one point during the tournament. The Apertura signals the beginning of a season, while the Clausura is the ending of a season.Įach Apertura and Clausura is made up of seventeen jornadas, or weeks. The two tournaments are completely separate competitions with a champion awarded in each one. The opening of the season was in the Apertura 2016 tournament, which started in July of 2016. For example right now we are in the latter half of the 2016/2017 season with the Clausura 2017 tournament. The Liga MX has two short tournaments throughout one season. A win is three points, a tie is one point and a loss is a big, fat 0. This is basic throughout most soccer competitions around the world, which stays consistent in the Liga MX. The Tijuana Xolos do only have one title, but have only been in the league since 2011. Club America is also the most successful team in Liga MX history with 12 league titles,Chivas is a close second with 11, then Toluca with 10. Club America is the most popular team in the country, but it is also the most hated team in the country, somewhat like the New York Yankees in MLB. Other teams hold strong regional support like the case of the Tijuana Xolos, who sell out almost every home game. You can compare their fan base to American sports teams like the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and the Dallas Cowboys. These are the most popular teams in the country. The other member of this select group of teams hails from Guadalajara, in Chivas de Guadalajara. Three of the ‘big four’ do hail from Mexico City in Club America, Cruz Azul, and Pumas UNAM. There are a select group of teams known as the ‘big four’ because they have a national fan base throughout Mexico. Mexico City has the biggest presence in the league, with three teams hailing from the capital city in Club America, Cruz Azul and Pumas UNAM. There are 18 teams in the Liga MX, spread all across Mexico, from Tijuana to Chiapas. Here is a rundown of all the basics you need to know. If that is true, then this article is for you. There may be many new fans to the Liga MX, or to the sport in general, who may not know a thing about how the Mexican Soccer League functions. Recently, East Village Times has started covering the beloved Mexican soccer team from across the border, the Tijuana Xolos. Versatility & Variety? Chef’n VeggiChop Hand-Powered Food Chopper We were told by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicle that nothing was submitted process and that it takes fory-five days for the vehicle to be titled. We were told that there was no record of us in their system (they did not have my sister's proof of income to even submit our information for process). We left both keys and the car at the dealership and called the bank. That didn't make sense, then again they have none. They lied and said it was titled and funded but still offered to lower the interest rate and monthly payments, which was too high for a basic Sonic LS. Those imbeciles did not want to take it back. After talking to a few friends about the deal (they all said we got ripped off), my sister and I decided to take the car back on Jan. He didn't even tell me what bank the car was going to be financed with until I asked him while on the phone with an auto insurance company. She asked about the interest rate (we find out after speaking with the finance manager) and he said he wasn't sure. My sister asked about the mileage on the car after I took it for a test drive and he said he didn't know. Darrel Brown didn't know anything, or at least he pretended he didn't. In addition to that, the interest rate was too high at fifteen percent. This move would actually make her the buyer and me the co-buyer. But when we spoke with Mark Perez, a finance manager, he said that since my sister's credit score is higher than mine she would need to sign the contract and other documents first and I could sign next to and below her name. My sister, who accompanied me on the visit, agreed to do so. 5, 2013 and was told that because of my income I needed a cosigner. I wouldn't recommend this dealership to my worse enemy!! I wanted to purchase my first vehicle on Jan. Works fine, fully playable, screens fade slow though. Works fine, fully playable with joystick. Playable but very slow, with slight cursor flickering and sound distortion. Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars Heroes of Might and Magic: A Strategic Quest Works well (with PC Speaker sound), but mouse cursor can't go more than half way down the screen, making full mouse control of game impossible. But it played really well, with sound, until then.Įcoquest 2 - The Lost Secret of the RainforestįRUA (Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures Seems to be working much better in the new version fo DOSbox! Played for a while, but then had a random lockup. Starts up ok, then sits at loading screen for a bit, then attempts to get to the main menu, but freezes at the background cinematic behind the main menu, however the sound still contains to play behind it, so the game technically is still "running", but the screen is hanging. If you want to have it decently run set frameskip to 1 set cycles 6000 Screen flickers between menus, cutscenes are sluggish, no sound, and ingame is extremly slow. Shows copyright text, wii freezes, code dumps soon after.ġ.6: New world map creation takes a long time, but besides that it works great. I'd recommend cycles set at fixed 1500.ġ.7: Works well, however sometimes randomly crashes at any difficulty above Chieftain. Starts to load, but crashes back to the loader where the mouse button prompt should be.ġ.6: Works perfectly. Loading between missions takes a few seconds and cutscenes are slow, ingame works perfect. You can change the input device in Options menu later. Detects WiiMote as a joystick, so press + or A to continue. Runs, but joystick control(?) goes all spaztic, making it practically impossible to select menu options. The game slows down if you don't keep the cursor position still. The emulator is too slow and the game stops after the splash screen. Slight music stutter animations running well now (Had to change the display to 640x480)Įrror after loading and returns to the prompt. Will crash on cycles=max.īard's Tale 1, The (Tales of the Unknown) Use cycles=fixed 4000 (or less) for best results. Works perfectly but a bit slowly with slight input delay. Mouse is very fast on the menu, but this goes for the PC too.Ĭrashes with a code dump after +/- a minute of gameplay. Working, but there is a horrible buzz as soon as the ball bounces on something. Intermittent cursor issues (not reaching to left side of screen during certain scenes), resolvable by moving cursor to opposite edges of screen.įeels a bit slow, but working, Classic controller works as joystick. Reduce sound clipping by setting block size to 8192. Some lag, especially during scene transitions. If I recall correctly, I hadn't any problems running this game It works as a simple easy menu should work to load dos apps. Working, but slow, sound is a complete mess Red represents games that do not load and have major problems and/or are unplayable, or have consistent lock ups.ġ942: The Pacific Air War (1994 - Micropose) Orange represents games that mostly work but with more serious but playable bugs, or random lockups (random doesn't mean lock up every time at the same spot in the game). Green represents games that work 100% or just have slight audio/video stutter or anything else that doesn't effect gameplay. When the power button is pressed again, the computer runs the boot sequence and restores the computer to the previous state using the image created earlier. For example, suppose the three programs are running and the internet connected as before. When the computer is hibernating, it saves the data in the RAM to the hard drive and completely turns off the computer. When resumed the computer starts the operating system and restore the 3 programs to the previous state, but the internet connection might or might not connect this is due to the connection type and the configuration of settings. Hybrid sleep is a new power-saving feature specifically used in desktop computers, where the properties in the sleep and hibernation modes are combined. When hibernated, the resumption requires the operating system to start-up from the very beginning (since the computer is turned off) while, on standby, the computer requires no start-up in the operating system. It isn't just power consumption that is different. In hibernation, an image of the memory is saved to the hard drive while, on standby, the memory is retained. In hibernation, the computer completely turns off while, on standby (or sleep mode), computer is at a minimal power consuming state where the memory elements are consuming power. What is the difference between Hibernate and Standby (Sleep)? Hybrid sleep saves any programs to memory and to the hard disk of the computer, and then puts the computer into a low-power state. How much power does sleep mode vs hibernate mode Sleep mode Laptop (1-2 watts), Desktop (3-10 watts) Hibernate mode No usage of power In the category of energy saving for PC sleep vs hibernate, hibernate uses absolutely no power, so therefore, it is more energy efficient. In sleep the CPU goes into a low power mode and only RAM and a few critical devices receive power. It is very fast to go into or recover from this mode. The downside is that as RAM is volatile it's contents will be lost if power is lost. In that case you risk data loss or corruption. This is not recommended for long periods of time. In hibernation data is saved to disk which is non volatile. It is like the computer is plugged in but powered down. Power consumption is very low but not zero. You could safely put the computer into hibernation, remove power, put the computer into storage for a year or more, and later restore with all applications open and ready to go as before with no data loss. Some applications might have difficulties but they are usually minor. Because this may require action on their part, processes are notified before the user logs off or the computer is shut down. In addition to his choral music and concerti, Vivaldi had begun regularly writing opera scores by 1715 about 50 of these scores remain. In 1716, he was promoted to music director. Under Vivaldi's leadership, the orchestra gained international attention. The most talented musicians joined an orchestra that played Vivaldi's compositions, including religious choral music. The Ospedale was an institution where orphans received instruction - the boys in trades and the girls in music. He composed most of his major works in this position over three decades. Musical CareerĪt the age of 25, Vivaldi was named master of violin at the Ospedale della Pietà (Devout Hospital of Mercy) in Venice. Health problems prevented him from delivering mass and drove him to abandon the priesthood shortly after his ordination. Due to his red hair, Vivaldi was known locally as "il Prete Rosso," or "the Red Priest." Vivaldi's career in the clergy was short-lived. At the age of 15, he began studying to become a priest. Vivaldi sought religious training as well as musical instruction. While his violin practice flourished, a chronic shortness of breath barred him from mastering wind instruments. Through his father, Vivaldi met and learned from some of the finest musicians and composers in Venice at the time. His father, Giovanni Battista Vivaldi, was a professional violinist who taught his young son to play as well. Early LifeĪntonio Lucio Vivaldi was born on March 4, 1678, in Venice, Italy. He was also known for his operas, including Argippo and Bajazet. A prolific composer who created hundreds of works, he became renowned for his concertos in Baroque style, becoming a highly influential innovator in form and pattern. Antonio Vivaldi was ordained as a priest though he instead chose to follow his passion for music. |
